A meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security is underway at Parliament House, Islamabad. The meeting is being chaired by the chairman of the committee, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information on Thursday, the meeting was attended by DG ISI to brief the country’s political and parliamentary leadership, leaders, and members on key foreign affairs, internal security, internal challenges, and changes taking place in the region. Talking to the media after the meeting, former prime minister and senior PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that, “We were told in the briefing that neither the US has asked us for bases nor we are providing them.”

Extraordinary security arrangements
National Assembly and Senate employees have been dismissed on the sidelines of the National Security Committee meeting. All workplaces in Parliament House have been shut and uncommon security courses of action have been made.
